For a lot of us, March can be bumpy. Winter and Spring really fight it out. We know who will win, but the battle gets messy.
One reassurance is the green that shows itself immediately with the thaw, like it’s been there all the time.
I learned this year that what we’re seeing revealed is something called the subnivean: “the insulated area between the snowpack and the ground where a stable temperature zone is formed, creating a sanctuary for our winter wildife.” (source: Kawartha Land Trust).
Yet another “space between” where life can thrive.
