A painted rock perched on a log beside the forest trail
But why? Whoever it was painted a pretty pattern on a rock, only to leave it in a forest, a kind of creative addendum to a natural landscape.
Some say it’s a form of “trail magic,” to bring joy to fellow humans who discover them. Really? Nice thought, but the forest has no need of such things. There is joy and wonder in abundance–no human intervention required.
