Nested

August 26

Bald-faced aerial yellowjackes crawling on the surface of their massive nest
It looks like a rock of swirling sediment.
But this monstrous nest is enmeshed in our tree and made from wood fiber chewed into pulp and mixed with the saliva of bald-faced aerial yellowjackets.
Instinctively, they just keep chewing and spitting and building.
It’s weirdly awe-inspiring.
