Fungal Attachments

April 30

2025:

A turkey tail mushroom that grew at the end of a stick
Last year, the spores found their way to the end of a stick and blossomed.
Faded after a harsh winter, it holds tight. Strong.

2026:

A bracket fungus with a lengthy tree attachment
Fungus spores find unique ways to thrive.
So do their host trees. This one assimilated the fungus,
and even gave it a bark skin.
There’s no escaping now.
