March 13
2025:

2026:
Sometimes, we tap into something beyond our awareness. This was one of those moments last year.
This year, I feel more aware and it’s truly heavy. Six years ago, I left my 89-year-old father in tears. He didn’t want me to go. I thought I was doing the right thing, going home to make dinner and do all of those routine things.
“I’ll see you tomorrow, Dad.”
I didn’t. Everything was locked down on March 13th and by March 28th, he was one of the first Canadians in long term care to die from COVID-19.
The natural world survives in spite of the onslaughts, natural and human. I desperately want to learn from that world, to embody its wisdom.
To learn how to bear it when it gets heavy.
