Snowbird

A little Dark-Eyed Junco perched inside a snowy cedar
The Junco hyemalis, aka the Dark-Eyed Junco.
Junco: found near marshes and reeds. Hyemalis: of the winter.
Our ways of naming are strange.
And yet we love to do it, laying claim to the job as far back as the Judeo-Christian Genesis.
I’m sure this little bird could care less. I think he’s onto something.
