2025:

Canadian geese and loons together on the water
Canadian geese can be pretty vicious. Canadian loons are commonly skittish.
But far from humans, they relax, together, in the mist of early morning,
next to an island in the middle of a lake.
Live and let live.

2026:

A swan grooms herself while a duck is perched next to her
She grooms, unperturbed by the duck resting close by.
They’re companions. Neighbours.
I wonder if they’re aware of their differences.
I wonder if they bother to care.
