Ways of Seeing

July 2

A pair of blue dragonflies connecting on a yellow pond lily
We can never take for granted that we see the entirety of anything.
I took this photo for the colours, the unopened lily, and the reflection. Then I zoomed in to find the dragonflies.
They look so different from a large mosquito eater, so I browsed to learn more about them. Seems there are 3,000 known species, divided into families with names like clubtails, cruisers, darners, and emeralds.
Like there are with birds, there’s life lists of all the dragonflies people find. Who knew?
One image. Countless ways of seeing.
