Clematis Close-up

June 26

A close-up of the centre stamens of a clematis flower
When we look at flowers, it’s easy to rest our eyes on the entire bloom. They’re beautiful and miraculous in their fragility.
Then we look more closely. The stamens of this clematis bloom are extraordinary. They appear infinite, like they could open more and more, from the centre outward, each layer waiting their turn to stretch and breathe.
Stamen: Latin for support of a body; stamina.
A flower’s heart.
